Fun meeting the excellent cell biologists and geneticists at ISU, especially some phenomenal plant lipid labs!! And what an amazing gnome. Thanks to Anurag Das and the dpt for the kind invite to visit and chat science!!

NSF GRFP off from Adriana, R21 off from John, both soaring to the great roulette wheel of mercurial grant arbitration in the sky. 

In more exciting news, sparse glia (green) labeling works with SPARC, and Mikaela from Clandinin lab masterfully pranked me with Whoppers+box full of fake flies that initially caused a brief panic as I thought my office was getting a cockroach package. I rightly deserved this prank as a few months ago I opened an unused movie snacks box under Mikaela's desk (whoppers) and triggered an ant invasion while she was awol playing with snakes and bugs. Happily, Emma requested flies from me and the fakeflies continued to spread prehalloween scares when boomeranged back to clandinin lab. 

In my 10years of doing flywork i can't recall ever swallowing a fly. Adriana has a talent. And she got a different insect in her eye at the tetrad retreat. Vengeance for the fallen flies!! In happier news NSF and grad apps almost done!!!!
